Outreach Leadership Internship

Are you interested in developing your skills as a grassroots organizer? Do you want hands-on experience recruiting and training environmental advocates to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf region? Then the Outreach Leadership Intern position is for you!

The Outreach Leadership Intern will work on the Healthy Gulf's public outreach and community involvement activities. Healthy Gulf conducts grassroots outreach at events across New Orleans and the Gulf like arts markets and music festivals. We train volunteer advocates on the critical environmental issues here in the Gulf and on conducting outreach to the public. Our advocates do the critical work of engaging the public in the fight for a healthy Gulf, and Outreach Leadership Internship offers a motivated student the opportunity to become a driving force in grassroots organizing and public environmental education in New Orleans.

The Outreach Leadership Intern will gain experience in:

- Public Advocacy
- Grassroots Outreach
- Volunteer Recruitment and Management
- Setting up and staffing Healthy Gulf outreach tables at local events
- Conducting short presentations to classes, organizations, and other groups
- Phonebanking Healthy Gulf members and potential activists
- Participating in coordinated Days of Action, such as call-in days
